Refugees in Uganda

Introducing our Refugee Family

Refugees in Uganda
recent refugees from the Democratic Republic of the Congo

Our family is from the Democratic Republic of Congo.  They consist of a single parent mother and her four children.  The mother speaks French, a little bit of English and Lingala.  She also speaks some Swahili and Mashi.  She has experience as a market vendor.

The eldest son is 18 years old and also speaks French and a little bit of English as well as some Lingala. The oldest daughter speaks French, a little English and also Lingala. The two younger daughters are 8 and 5 and speak a little English as well as Lingala.

Upon the arrest and disappearance of her husband in 2010, the family had to flee their home and arrived in Uganda in November of that year.   Their chosen host destination is Quebec, Canada.
